I started collecting sanrio only recently, before then I was more of a san-x person but I've really fallen for a lot of sanrio characters! I primarily collect sugarbunnies, gotochi items, and sanrio plushies that were released before 2003.
I also like collecting the more uncommon characters. Sanrio stuff can go for a lot so I always try to limit spending on a single plush to about 20USD / 3000JPY (some of my sugarbunnies plushies have almost reached my threshold but so far I've not spent more than that on any plush! I'd be willing to go over that amount for any of my grails though).

One of my favorite plushies in my collection! when I started collecting older sanrio plushies I wanted to limit it to one medium sized plush per character (~30cm).
I looked around for hello kitty plushies made in 1999 and this one caught my eye... I loved her but she went for so much..!
For a while I was hemming and hawwing about trying to maybe look for one I could get for cheaper since I didn't want to spend more than maybe ~40USD on a hello kitty plush. Skip to two weeks later I was randomly looking at hello kitty listings as saw her for just ~3USD / 420JPY! Snatched her up immediately and was so happy since she also came with her tag.
